Started reading the Jagged Alliance 2 Gold manual in preparation for my first stab at the game, and wow. i swoon at the idea of getting hamous to do food/ammo runs in the ice cream truck The only things i really like about 1.13 are the UI changes around aiming/firing, as well as the included gear like belts, vests, and backpacks because i'm a big fat nerd about properly carrying things in video games.

While in 1.13 it seems to be so many systems tackled over each other, and so many stuff seems to be there just for the sake of "realism" without adding anything fun or relevant to the gameīut after I finish this game I might try a true 1.13 game again, probably with some mod too I dunno, vanilla is complex enough for me and at the same it has an elegance, a consistency, like everything that is there had to be. I wish 1.13 was still about improving the base game, improving its AI, fixing its bugs, adding QoL features, modernizations. Ive already went further and had more fun than I did on all my last attempts using 1.13 1.13 turns it into a Frankenstein that might be fun as a sandbox for a while, but base JA2 is a much better game in the whole.
Is a masterpiec, imo, and it aged well, specially since theres nothing really like it. Vanilla JA2, even all its problems, its a real gem as it is. I dont like almost any features it adds to the game, I dont like the over the top complexity which only adds noise to everything, I dont like how it makes the game much much harder. But I dont want to restart cause the game is going pretty good, I already took Drassen and the SAM site and some other stuffīut anyway, I found that I really dont like 1.13. If I was to restart, I would go with regular unmoded JA2. But maybe I would better have just went with vanilla. I found a number of glitches and problems, but so far Ive been able to fix then all. Im actually using 1.13 (stable build, 7460 I think) but in vanilla mode, which is not recommended cause they stopped mantaining i, but I wanted higher resolutions and etc. I decided to give JA2 another run, but this time in vanilla. Thats no small feat, I still remember the pain in the arse that sector was, even though is been like 20 years since I played JA1 I think I literally had Mike for 2 sectors.ĭidn't he also rig the whole island to explode or something?Ĭongratulations, really. My only memories of it are an ages long standoff on a bridge and me getting all the most expensive mercs to do it. It's been ages since I finished Jag1, I don't remember the infinite units. Stun grenades drops were the ultimate insult for me, because stun grenades never proc'ed fatigue damage on enemies mercs no matter how many stun grenades used (did enemy mercs in JA1 even have a fatigue stat?) in my JA1 playthrough. RNG loot further dicked me over by dropping lots of functionally useless stun grenades and. Endless waves of enemy mercs spawning once I set foot on the NW island-compound was bad enough, when those enemy mercs started teleporting past locked doors into the bottom 2 rooms was pure "gently caress you". JA1 sector 1 was so bullshit I never want to experience it again. Going to take a break before giving Jagged Alliance 2 a try(wanted to beat JA1 before playing Jagged Alliance 2). I now see why most people ignore it and focus on JA2 or the JA2 1.13 mod instead. Beat Jagged Alliance 1 for the first and only time ever.
